History of Tea in East London
East London was central to the story of tea in the UK and dates back over 300 years!
The British appetite for drinking tea spans hundreds of years, and East London and the London Docks are central to the story of tea in the UK.
Once the largest working docks in the world, the port of London was the centre of British commerce and saw much of the tea imported into the UK pass through its wharfs and quays.
While the sail ships are long gone, the tea trade's mark on East London lives on in the buildings, the people and stories that remain - this is the heritage that we draw on with East London Tea Company.
